    Housing Discrimination - Fair Housing

    The Fair Housing Act safeguards people from discrimination when they are leasing or buying a home, getting a mortgage, seeking housing assistance, or participating in other housing-related activities.

    - Use various credentials requirements or applications, or sale or rental requirements or treatments, such as earnings standards, application requirements, application fees, credit analyses, sale or rental approval treatments or other requirements.
    - Evict an occupant or an occupant's guest.
    - Harass an individual.
    - Fail or delay performance of upkeep or repairs.
    - Limit advantages, services or centers of a residence.
    - Discourage the purchase or leasing of a dwelling.
    - Assign a person to a specific structure or community or section of a building or area.
    - For profit, encourage, or try to convince, property owners to sell their homes by recommending that people of a particular secured attribute are about to move into the community (blockbusting).
    - Refuse to supply or discriminate in the terms or conditions of property owners insurance coverage because of the race, color, religion, sex, special needs, familial status, or nationwide origin of the owner and/or occupants of a house.
    - Deny access to or membership in any numerous listing service or real estate brokers' organization.
    In Mortgage Lending:

    It is illegal discrimination to take any of the following actions based on race, color, religious beliefs, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin:
