Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.
A man was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying impotence medicines by means of the internet.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.
"These types of items being sold, generally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.
"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
